What is Hypnosis?
Generally hypnosis is defined a heightened state of suggestibility, sometimes called trance. In fact, did you know that everyone goes in and out of hypnosis several times each day? For example, have you ever lost track while driving, or daydreamed, or suddenly completed a sentence from several days ago? These are all forms of hypnosis or trance. Hypnosis is a very normal and frequent state of mind. Really, hypnosis can be seen as an open minded state. Therefore in an hypnosis office setting, a person is hypnotically induced into this open minded state in order to address the subconscious mind and neutralize unwanted behaviors or improve performance.
Just about anyone of normal intelligence and willingness to trust in the hypnotist can be hypnotized. Hypnosis is science. It really has nothing to do with physical conditioning or spirituality, as has been improperly portrayed in the media. Hypnosis simply requires using proper technique and trust. In actuality, hypnotic induction becomes easier with repetition.
Will I lose consciousness, or fall asleep?
You do not lose consciousness during hypnosis. In fact your consciousness may feel more focused, or increased, or heightened during the hypnotic state. But really hypnosis doesn’t feel like anything since hypnosis is really a state of mind and not a physical state. Often you may feel relaxed, but realize that you are NOT asleep during the process. You will remember everything the hypnotists says to you, and that’s important because it’s through that remembrance that your positive changes will result. You will emerge feeling rested, energized and positive.
Are the risks of Hypnosis?
There is no evidence available that shows that anyone has ever harmed physically or mentally by the hypnotic state. You will not remain in hypnotic trance once you have been emerged. You cannot get “stuck”. In fact, hypnosis is a very comfortable state—many people wish to remain there for longer periods! Did you know…Hypnosis has been accepted since 1958 by the American Medical Association and is used to help with a whole myriad of issues?
Hypnotists can’t make you do something against your will. If any suggestion is made that is contrary to your natural inclination, your mind will reject it. You will never be asked to reveal secrets and I certainly will not pry. We can successfully address the issues that we agreed upon in the beginning respectfully and professionally. Remember you are in total control of the session the whole time. It is my job to maintain your trust at all times.
How can hypnosis help me?
Hypnosis is beneficial in so many ways. Most people are familiar with the assistance in smoking cessation, and weight loss. But there are so many other things that hypnosis can help with such as performance improvement, fears, phobias, unwanted behaviors, attention problems…The list goes on and on.
Can I hypnotize myself?
Yes, anyone can learn self-hypnosis in just a few minutes. I include this powerful information in every session. I use a method called 7th Path Self-Hypnosis. This is a great tool to help further support your goals and accomplishments gained in hypnosis sessions. But self hypnosis can also be used as a stand-alone approach to whole body-mind-spirit health. Remember that all hypnosis is really self hypnosis. Click here to learn more about 7th Path Self-Hypnosis.
